Underground Services' unique EcoPlough technology offers a far superior alternative to traditional trenching methods. It is suited to a wide range of applications, delivering a shorter construction period and cost effective method of installing cabling as well as minimising harm to the environment.

It adopts a trenchless technique, using a specifically designed vibratory plough blade that is pulled through the ground at a pre-set depth of up to two metres, installing cables or pipes of up to 335mm in diameter.

The cable or pipe is laid immediately behind the ploughing blade at an installation rate that is up to 50% more productive than conventional open trenching methods. An automatic patented sanding hopper attached to the plough blade installs sand under, over and around the cable or conduit, whilst danger tape is automatically placed above the cable in the same operation.

An onboard Global Positioning System (GPS) displays the proposed route line as well as mapping the depth and positioning of the cable or pipe being installed.

Advantages of the EcoPlough technology:

  • Minimal clearing required
  • Minimal top soil disturbance
  • Minimal crop and livestock disturbance
  • No ground water (acid sulphate soils) issues
  • Shorter construction period
  • Environmentally friendly alternative
  • Reduced construction costs
  • Reduced survey costs with GPS
  • Safer work site due to less conflicting site tasks
